Fishing tip #2
If you fish the same lake over a long period of time it is best to know what the bottom looks like thus you will know the optimum areas to catch fish. In the photo below you see the rocky bank, however during the summer the water line will be up halfway to three-fourths up the bank. My tip is to take pictures during the low points of the water and when the water is up then you will be able to go back and know the areas where the fish will congregate.
Sometimes while you are fishing for Crappie in the middle of the winter the crappie just wont bite. If this is the case then try a technique called dead sticking this is where you just set your rod down and watch for the strike. Every once and a while you can flick your line to see if this wil trigger the response. This usually will happen with in the first 30 seconds after you flick the line.
Just a disclaimer dont do this during just any time of the year as I have heard many stories of spring, summer, and fall white bass dragging your equipment right into the water.
